Undergraduate Chemistry Major

Students can choose our standard chemistry program (opens in new tab), which is comparable to that offered in any major university, or our biochemistry track (opens in new tab), which is ACS-Approved Chemistry Program designed to give more flexibility to students wanting to pursue courses with biological focus. Certification of the degree by the American Chemical Society (opens in new tab) is available.  We encourage students in either major track to include independent study with one of our internationally-recognized faculty (opens in new tab) as a component of the undergraduate experience. Undergraduate Research (opens in new tab) will frequently result in journal publications and/or presentations at scientific meetings.

The primary goal of UFTeach (opens in new tab) is to increase the quantity and quality of

secondary mathematics and science teachers. This mission will be accomplished through new partnerships between the University of Florida’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and College of Education and several Florida school districts. UFTeach will use imaginative recruiting strategies to bring UF’s best and brightest into teaching.
