Chemistry Minors

UF Chem Undergraduate Program

The requirements for a Minor in Chemistry are a General Chemistry Sequence; CHM 3120-3120L; either CHM 2210-2211-2211L or CHM 3217-3218-2211L; and three additional credits selected from among CHM 3400, 3610, any 4000-level CHM course (except 4905, 4910, or 4940), with a grade of C or better. At least nine (9) chemistry credits must be completed at UF. In addition, students must complete a minimum of 6 credits of coursework exclusive to the minor that cannot count toward the student’s major(s) or other minors.

Please Note:

  • Students taking CHM the 2210/2211 sequence may use CHM 3218 as the advanced chemistry elective.
  • BCH 4024 does not substitute for a 4000-level chemistry course.
  • Prior approval of the minor is required. That is, without prior approval of the minor, you will not receive the minor although you may have completed all the required work. To obtain approval to pursue a minor in chemistry, pick up an application form from the Registrar’s Office, complete the form, and turn it in at 100 ACC. You do not need the signature of anyone in the Chemistry department for your minor application.
