“The University of Florida International Center has awarded Pascale Atallah the Alex Courtelis Award, recognizing her for her academic achievements and contributions to the University of Florida and Gainesville community. This prestigious award was first given at the 1996 International Student Awards Ceremony by Louise Courtelis in honor of her late husband, Alec Courtelis, a well-known financier and former Chairman of the Board of Regents. Pascale will be honored at The Annual International Student Awards Ceremony on November 21, 2013. Congratulations Pascale!”

Natali Di Russo Wins The HHMI International Graduate Student Award

The Howard Hughes Medical Institute has awarded one of his coveted International graduate student fellowships to chemistry graduate student Natali Di Russo.

Tenure-Track Position in Organic Chemistry, Department of Chemistry

“The Department of Chemistry at the University of Florida announces a search for a tenure track faculty position to begin in Fall 2014. The appointment will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The Department has a special interest in receiving applications from candidates with research interests in synthetic organic chemistry applied to methodology development, natural product synthesis, chemical biology, medicinal chemistry or materials. In addition to contributing to the research, teaching and service missions of the Department of Chemistry, there are numerous opportunities for interactions both within the Department and campus-wide in the Colleges of Liberal Arts & Sciences, Medicine, Agriculture and Engineering. Some of the centers of expertise and areas of traditional strength at the University of Florida include the Emerging Pathogens Institute, the UF Health Cancer Center, the McKnight Brain Institute and the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory.”

“Rod Bartlett was the honoree of the 7th�Molecular Quantum Mechanics Congress held in Lugano, Switzerland, June 2-7, 2013. The topic was “Electron Correlation: The Many-Body Problem at the Heart of Chemistry,” a field that Prof. Bartlett has pioneered. More than 330 scientists from 21 countries were in attendance.”
