Professor Brent Sumerlin wins 2016 Hanwha-Total Young Scientist Award

“Professor Brent Sumerlin has received the 2016 Hanwha-Total Young Scientist Award from the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). This internationally competitive award is dedicated to outstanding scientists and sponsored by Hanwha-Total (formerly Samsung-Total). The prize was first awarded on the occasion of MACRO 2004 (Paris) and is granted biannually on the occasion of the IUPAC World Polymer Congress, being held this year in Istanbul, Turkey in July.”

Professor George Christou awarded the 2016 Nyholm Prize of the UK Royal Society of Chemistry

“Distinguished Professor George Christou has been selected to receive the 2016�Nyholm Prize for Inorganic Chemistry�from the Royal Society of Chemistry in the United Kingdom. He will receive a medal and certificate at the awards ceremony in London in November, and will carry out a lecture tour of UK universities during 2017 as the Nyholm Lecturer. The Nyholm Prize is given every two years to recognize excellence by an inorganic chemist who has established a high quality and high impact research program. It commemorates the life and work of Sir Ronald Nyholm, who was President of the RSC from 1968 to 1970 and, in addition to his outstanding inorganic research activities, was also an ardent campaigner for the improvement of science education.”

Professor Rebecca Butcher receives the Sigma Xi Junior Faculty Research Award

Professor Rebecca A. Butcher has been awarded the 2016 Sigma Xi Junior Faculty Research Award. The UF Chapter of Sigma Xi awards the Faculty Research Award to a faculty member to recognize his or her outstanding contribution to the support of undergraduate student research. Prof. Butcher was recognized at the annual Sigma Xi banquet.
