CV of Dr. Fang

Multiple processes contribute to somatic mutations in cancer genomes, these mutations mainly arise from three sources: 1) Dysfunctions of DNA polymerases, including mutations in replicative polymerase or the activity of translesion synthesis polymerase; 2) Environmental exposures, such as UV radiation and tobacco smoking; 3) Endogenous metabolism. Understanding the origin of these mutational signatures will help us prevent and intervene the cancer initiation, progression, and drug resistance. Tang lab focus on leveraging mass spectrometry and next-generation sequencing techniques to study how DNA damage and DNA repair contribute to cancer and other human diseases. Dr. Tang is a recipient of the NIH Pathway to Independence (K99/R00) Award. Tang lab is well-funded and is planning to acquire a new Orbitrap for proteomics research and recruit several students and postdocs. Outside of the lab, Dr. Tang is a tennis aficionado and looks forward to enjoying the excellent tennis weather in Florida.

We are currently seeking postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduate students to join us. We are committed to fostering a culture of mutual respect and open communication, while also supporting the career development of each team member. Students will have the opportunity to receive interdisciplinary training in mass spectrometry, proteomics, chemical biology, synthetic chemistry, molecular biology, and bioinformatics.
