Interests::

I am from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. Among my favorite hobbies are going to the movies, dance, and exercise. I really enjoy being at the University of Florida because the warm weather and the relaxing atmosphere. Plus, there are so many fun things to do that it is difficult to get bored.

My research involved the synthesis and development of fluorescence probes for intracellular measurements. Monitoring gene expression in vivo is of great importance to biological studies, medical diagnostics and drug discovery. The use of these probes has enabled gene expression studies to be conducted with the advantage of a low background and high selectivity. Currently, I am working with a hybrid linear probe. We determine the hybridization capabilities, kinetics, and structural properties of the probes in both in vitro and inside a single cell.
