About me:
I am from beautiful, sunny Jacksonville, FL. I completed my undergraduate work at the University of North Florida in 2004. While at UNF, I worked with Dr. Stuart Chalk on a flow injection analysis project to develop an early warning detection system for biological and chemical warfare agents. My senior year, I worked at Mayo Clinic with Dr. Richard Troendle developing an LC/MS method to quantitate ACE inhibiting drugs in the brain and the blood. I joined the Yost group in 2004 to pursue my love of mass spectrometry.
My research interests:
My research interests include biological applications of MS. Currently I am working on a project to characterize tryptic peptide ion behavior in FAIMS/MS through computational modeling and evaluating synthetic tryptic peptides. I also evaluate the ability of FAIMS to separate phosphorylated tryptic peptides. The development and design of novel FAIMS geometries is also under evaluation.

Other interests:
I have an interest in the training and care of animals, specifically miniature horses. In an effort to share my passion with others I started my own business and have written two books and numerous magazine articles on the subject. I also love cooking as well as decorating cakes. The cake pictured is my wedding cake. I made the shells and seahorses from white chocolate.
