This meeting will provide a broad overview of modern aspects of enzymology with a focus on problems that lie at the interface of chemistry and biology. We aim to bring together researchers from the US and Europe in an informal and relaxed atmosphere resembling that of the Gordon Research Conference on Enzymes, Co-enzymes and Metabolic Pathways.
The schedule is designed to allow ample time for participants to interact socially and scientifically. All participants should plan to arrive no later than Wednesday, June 7, 2006. The registration costs will include attendance at the reception and banquet, a lunch on the third day of the meeting and refreshments during the morning breaks. In the interests of collegiality and scientific interaction, the number of participants will be limited to 130 - so register early for this exciting meeting!!
The meeting will be held in Como, Italy, which is a beautiful resort area at the foot of the Alps on the Swiss/Italian border. There are a variety of hotels and hostels in the area for the use of meeting participants, and instructions for making housing reservations for the meeting will be provided after receipt of your online registration.

Each session of contributed lectures will consist of 3 x 15-minute presentations
(+ 5 minutes discussion) and will be held from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. on
Thursday, June 8 and Friday, June 9 prior to the poster sessions (3 talks each day).
A number of participants have indicated that they will be accompanied by spouses, friends, children who will not take part in the scientific sessions. We would like to extend an invitation to these accompanying people to take part in the social events that are scheduled for the meeting (welcome reception and meeting banquet). In order to ensure that there is enough food (and drink) for all, however, we need to obtain some idea of the numbers of guests who would like to attend the welcome reception and/or the banquet (or both). Therefore all participants, including invited and plenary speakers, should e-mail Malgorzata Deyrup the number of guests (and their names so that appropriate badges can be made) who will attend these social events as soon as possible, but in any event NO LATER THAN APRIL 28, 2006. In order to cover the costs of food and drink, there will be the following small surcharges for each guest:
Although you can pay these monies to the same accounts as used for the registration fees, please note that we WILL be able to accept cash payments for guest tickets at the registration desk in Como. It merely simplifies the meeting organization if we can get good estimates of the number of guests who plan to attend these events well in advance. For those who wish to pay for these additional tickets in advance, please contact Malgorzata Deyrup by e-mail for more details. For the European participants: Please note that you will be issued with an OFFICIAL RECEIPT for your registration fees at the meeting itself. For tax reasons, all of the receipts must be issued by the University of Milano and so we ask your patience in this matter. Those of you wishing to find out if your payment was received OK can continue to e-mail the organizers directly prior to obtaining your official receipt at the meeting. We would also like to remind that (as posted on the web site) the DEADLINE for receiving registration payments will be MAY 1, 2006. | ||||||

| Grants-in-aid |

|
We have a very important announcement for all those young scientists seeking funds to support their participation
in the meeting. Thus, we are pleased to announce that financial aid will be made available to partially support
the participation of a limited number of graduate students and post-docs at the Conference.
Interested participants should apply for selection by sending a 1-page summary of their CV (education, publications & previous awards) and their 1-page poster abstract by e-mail to Maria Vanoni and Nigel Richards so that the organizers can consider their request. THE DEADLINE FOR THE RECEIPT OF ALL APPLICATIONS IS APRIL 28, 2006. |
| Poster Sessions |
|---|
| The poster sessions will be held in the afternoons of June 8th and 9th. |
| Interested participants should submit poster abstracts as outlined below. The usable area of the poster walls is 0.9 meters (width) x 1.8 meters (height) (3 x 6 feet). If you think that this space is not enough, please slightly increase the height and NOT the width, because this would interfere with the posters next to yours! |
| Submitting Abstracts for Posters |
|---|
| Poster abstracts should be sent as a 1-page Microsoft Word Document (text area 16.5 cm x 22.5 cm) by e-mail to malgorzata@cox.net by April 28, 2006. The presenting author's name should be underlined. Please include complete affiliation addresss including the e-mail of the presenting author. If you want to include an image, please attach it as an extra JPEG or GIF file to your message. |
