Obtaining the Software:
Representatives from the research groups participating in this license (see above), may checkout the
installation CD and obtain the serial number from the IT Shop in Leigh 116-D.
Installation/Registration Instructions:
After installing Origin, each user must register their installed copy of Origin and obtain a FLEXlm
node-locked license file so that they can run Origin. The node-locked license file "locks" Origin
to the computer that it is installed on. To register and obtain the license file, each user should
start Origin after completing the installation. The License Information dialog box will open, asking
the user to get the license file.
If the computer is connected to the internet, click the button provided in the dialog box to go to
the OriginLab website to register and download the license file. The OriginLab website should
guide the user through the process.
If the computer does not have internet access, but the user has access to another computer
that does have internet access, they can browser to the OriginLab home page (www.originlab.com)
and then click the FLEXlm License/Register link on this page. Each user will need the serial number
identified in the software distribution notebook provided by the IT Shop, and their Computer ID
(that displays in the License Information dialog box on the computer where Origin was installed)
to complete the license retrieval process.
Moving a license to another Computer:
If any user needs to replace a computer for which they have already
obtained an Origin license file, please contact OriginLab Technical Support at tech@originlab.com.
The Technical Support staff will remove one license from their records so that they can obtain
their full allotment of licenses.
