Adobe Acrobat Reader is used to view and print *.pdf files. Several course handouts are available in *.pdf format. This link is to the Adobe download web page, from which you can obtain the software for free.
MMCALC is a handy and easy little program. Type in a Chemical Formula (case sensitive) and Presto! you get the Molar Mass (Molecular Weight for you old fogies). Alternately, you can get the Mass Percentages for each element in the compound. This program is made available as freeware by SoftShell International Ltd.
PTOE is an "animated" Periodic Table. You can customize the table to display the property of current interest (as ionization energies). Alternately, click on any element to display all sorts of atomic properties. This one is an "Evaluation" copy distributed by SMI Corporation. If you really like and make significant use of this, they would appreciate receiving a registration fee.
RASMOL is a "Molecular Visualization Program" that we shall use to study molecular structure. Freeware! The download includes the main program and a number of *.pdb structure data files, many of which were generated locally.
ACD/ChemSketch is a graphics program for drawing and visualizing molecular structures. It is primarily directed towards students and practitioners of organic and biochemistry.
